Aunque no mucha gente es consciente de ello, NRK todavía tiene emisiones en onda larga y media. Sin embargo, hoy en día NRK tiene un servicio muy limitado por radio en AM. Sólo el transmisor de onda larga de Ingøy en Finnmark sigue en funcionamiento, además de un transmisor de onda media en Longyearbyen en Svalbard. Aquí el NRK P1 se distribuye con informes meteorológicos extendidos, entre otras cosas para el envío.
