Hello friends,
The North American time change on November 2 will result in one schedule change for this week’s program 424: The Sunday WRMI transmission on 9955 kHz switches to 1530-1600 UTC — staying at the same Eastern Time (10:30-11:00 am).
WINB’s schedule also stays with Eastern Time, but we don’t have to worry about that until next week’s broadcast.
This week’s Shortwave Radiogram includes a notice from Radio Free Asia about the suspension of it operations. Funding for RFA from Trump Administration dried up at the end of Fiscal Year 2025 (September 30). US international broadcasting has bipartisan support in Congress, so legislative (and federal court) action might be able to restore money for RFA and the other entities.
Another story of interest to us is research by a professor in Japan suggesting that increased levels of CO2 in the atmosphere could have adverse effects on radio communications via the ionosphere.
A video of last week’s Shortwave Radiogram (program 423) is provided by Scott in Ontario (Wednesday 1330 UTC). The audio archive is maintained by Mark in the UK. Analysis is provided by Roger in Germany.
Also: John in California provides an archive of received images here. And H0b0_Radio in Washington has an IQ file and other resources here,
Here is the lineup for Shortwave Radiogram, program 424, 30 October-5 November 2025, in MFSK modes as noted:
1:43 MFSK32: Program preview
2:54 MFSK32: High CO2 in atmosphere could affect ionosphere
7:31 MFSK64: With uncertain funding, Radio Free Asia suspends
12:38 MFSK64: This week’s images
28:34 MFSK32: Closing announcements
