Hello friends,
We return to an all-new Shortwave Radiogram this week. The length of the news stories allows room for nine images (1 x MFSK32 and 8 x MFSK64).
Of the six holiday related images I recorded, only one survived after the time constraint. There will be more later in December. But in January, it will be more difficult to find images suitable for shortwave. The bright lights will be removed, leaving only winter. At least the snowplows are usually bright orange.
Here at the house, it was disruptive week. Our roof shingles were replaced, not entirely to our satisfaction. And a tree in our front yard was removed, at my wife’s insistence, because she was convinced it roots would tangle with our natural gas pipes.
These projects have resulted in all my HF antennas being on the ground. My 40-meter inverted V was the survivor until the roofers needed to position their truck in our driveway. That required one leg of the dipole to be placed in the bushes, for now.
One by one, those antennas will go back to their elevated locations. During the winter, in the cold — a typical situation for many radio amateurs.
A video of the November 26 Shortwave Radiogram (program 427) is provided by Scott in Ontario (Wednesday 1330 UTC). The audio archive is maintained by Mark in the UK. Analysis is provided by Roger in Germany.
Here is the lineup for Shortwave Radiogram, program 428, 5-11 December 2025, in MFSK modes as noted:
1:40 MFSK32: Program preview
2:51 MFSK32: Solar arrays will be manufactured in space by 2027
8:56 MFSK64: Trips to Mars need protection from cosmic rays
13:56 MFSK64: This week’s images
27:52 MFSK32: Closing announcements
