Hello friends,
I think Shortwave Radiogram will transmit normally this week. Last week, during the first transmission Thursday at 2330 UTC, the images did not decode for most listeners. However, Bobby in Louisiana and Tobias in Germany knew immediately what the problem was. The Fldigi Rv (reverse) button was inadvertently activated while I produced program 469. They knew the solution: simply use the Rv button while decoding.
Anyway, to eliminate the drama, I recorded program 469 again without the Rv for the second WINB transmission and for the WRMI airplays.
The Fldigi Rv (reverse) button is mostly used for RTTY, which must be encoded in USB, but in some cases is received in LSB. I don’t know why Rv would even be an option for the MFSK modes.
Autumn is here. It brings nice weather and generally good HF conditions. Autumn also supplies us with photos of leaves changing colors. You’ll decode plenty of those in the next few weeks, and probably also see some in person.
A video of last week’s Shortwave Radiogram (program 469) is provided by Scott in Ontario (Wednesday 1330 UTC). The audio archive is maintained by Mark in the UK. Analysis (explaining the Rv problem) is provided by Roger in Germany.
Here is the lineup for Shortwave Radiogram, program 470, 8-15 October 2026, in MFSK modes as noted:
1:42 MFSK32: Program preview
2:54 MFSK32: Ship detour around Panama Canal due to drought
6:21 MFSK64: Solar boom rapidly transforming emerging economies
12:18 MFSK64: This week’s images
27:54 MFSK32: Closing announcements
