Hello friends,
It has been a challenging summer in the Washington DC area (locally known as DMV for District-Maryland-Virginia). The heat and humidity seem even worse than the heat and humidity for which this region is famous. Or maybe advanced age is making it more difficult to withstand the heat and humidity. Around 3 or 4 am, I turn off the AC and open the door from our bedroom to a screened balcony, to let in the outdoor air. It’s a few degrees cooler than our 80F/27C AC setting, and more humid, but it has the advantage of letting us hear the birds singing.
Add to this smoke from distant fires that might be the cause of my runny nose and itchy eyes. Or maybe it’s from our household cat, even though I have been among cats all my life. At the end of August, I will prodded for my first-ever allergy test. If it’s the cat, the cat, member of our household since our son, then an undergraduate at Virginia Tech, rescued it from a car engine about 11 years ago, stays. Pharmaceuticals will have to be the answer.
